Only use this option on computers where no one will use QuickBooks but the computer stores company files. (For example, a file server or a computer in your network that’s dedicated to storing files.)
For all installations where someone will run QuickBooks on that computer, use the Full QuickBooks install option. This will install both the QuickBooks application as well as the network components required to share files.
Once installed, you can find more information about using the Database Server in the QuickBooks Help. Search for “Use the QuickBooks Database Server Manager”.
The Database Server Only option (Linux Database Server Manager) is available for Linux file servers. The Linux Database Server Manager package is available in the LinuxDBServer directory on the QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions CD-ROM.
Note: The Linux Database Server Manager serves company files to Windows clients only. Install QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions on your Windows client machines.
